Crossing The Lines GIS Activity

http://bit.ly/1dtuaQm

One of the new boundaries I have created is in Europe, merging the United Kingdom and Ireland.  The second new border I made is Tibet, which is inside China.

I think that Ireland and the United Kingdom will merge because of their cultural similarities.  They both speak Indo-European languages, and they are right next to each other in terms of location.  I think that Tibet will split away from China because of their cultural differences.

For my merging states, I based the boundaries mostly on physical boundaries, which was the ocean around the two states.  For my new state breaking away, I used cultural boundaries.

These new boundaries would make a difference in the world because it would be a lot more peaceful in the Tibetan area once they gained independence.  The merging boundary between Irelan and the United Kingdom would make a difference economically.
